Trouble

Trouble

It’s a troubling, mad, mad world.

A high-tech-low-ethic, super hectic, interconnected, long on knowledge–short on wisdom world of trouble and pain.

A soul and spirit split-conflicted, heart convicted, mal-adjusted, can’t be trusted, cash inflated, medicated, over-taxed, scared and vaxxed, gender shifted, pronoun gifted, great googamooga, can ya hear me talkin to ya, it’s a ball of confusion…

That’s what the world is today. Hey, hey.

There’s no doubt that we’re living in an upside down world. And while we’re in it, we will all have trouble. All kinds of trouble, all of us, our families, rich or poor, at one time or another, we will all have some kind of personal trouble. Trouble in your town, on your block, in your kitchen, in your body.

So how can we help?

Well, here’s some good new. Whether troubles are physical or medical, relational or social, emotional or mental, behavioral or financial, personal or marital, conflict, post-trauma, addiction, whatever it is: All of these issues are treatable. And if you have access and the means, you can address all of your troubles.

But what if you don’t–have access or the means? Then what do you do?

Well, THIS is how can we help.

As president Theodore Roosevelt said “Do what you can where you are, with what you have.” And so we start with offering a solution that addresses these problems.

Since 2019 our research pointed us towards a major, world-wide behavioral and mental health crisis—and that was before COVID-19, political and social chaos, and runaway inflation. Convicted by the data, we put an emphasis on adding a spectrum of behavioral & mental health & wellness programs to our LIVING 2.0 benefits programs.

That was the start of our journey. And the LIVING 2.0 FOUNDATIONS program is a continuation of our mission to help… with a twist: work with those with access and means to serve those without.

“In my 12 years as a DE&I manager of a Fortune 500 company I have never seen such a well thought out, complete program to serve this community as your program does!”  —A DE&I Trainer & Consultant

We’ve been working with dozens of groups, associations, companies, and insightful partners for over 7 years now, developing solutions for them that meet the needs of a diverse population that are in the midst of a variety of troubles, challenges and struggles. We know what people are going through, and we have solutions to help.

And now we believe we have a way to get these program in the hands of those without access or means. One where we’ve partnered with nonprofits to accept tax-deductible grants, donations, and sponsorships to give our program to those in need.

Namely, low-income, minority and single parent households.

Now all families that get this program will be able to access things like doctors, therapists, affordable prescription drugs, and more, as easily as launching an app on their smartphones. We deliver the entire program to each family (of up to 8 members) for a donation of $360 for 12-months access, including support and providing ongoing educational content.

Between the $0 cost TeleHealth services, mental health self-care programs, and the $5 pharmacy program, it not only saves money, it gives families without any means access to certified, high quality mental health professionals. This is a Godsend!” —A Corporate Community DE&I Liaison

Why build a program to serve low-income families?

After about 30 years of serving low-income families of all ethnicities in inner-cities where we live in Connecticut & New York City, then in Central America, Eastern Europe, and Africa with my wife and two sons, I started LIVING 2.0 in October 2015 as a way to integrate what I do to make a living with a way to serve people as my primary vocation.

I started off with a partner, building the first self-help relationship program on the web to serve those who could not afford couples counseling. That soon expanded to finding other programs that would help families with the myriad of issues we all face—a child development program we sourced from Dr. Ami Shah—our NYC friend and partner, an award winning self-help app for those struggling to live a sober life, and then a self-directed health risk assessment that helps you determine if you’re struggling with PTSD or trauma, or any other major health issues. The addition of other programs continues to this day, focusing on three primary areas of Health & Wellness, including: Physical, Financial, and Behavioral and Mental.

We assembled most of the above combination of benefits for a client in Atlanta in May, 2022, and as I worked with them to develop marketing campaigns for the various verticals they were marketing to, it became clear that this set of benefits served so many different types of groups simply because it did such a thorough job of solving so many real life problems. And it has an even greater impact for low-income families as a real money-saver, and time-saver—even more critical in a season of run-away inflation.

The Program is 100% built based on facts:

America spends more on healthcare as a percentage of GDP than any other country in the world, yet 112 million Americans are unable to afford proper medical care.(1) It is the uninsured that are the focus of our efforts to provide services to low-income, minority and single-parent family homes with children living at or below the poverty line. And there’s such a great demand for solutions:

  • Over 31 million Americans cannot afford medical attention(2), while 16% of all hospitalizations could be prevented if the patient visited a doctor when they had early warning signs.
  • 35% of families earning under $40,000 a year cannot afford acute and chronic medications(3).
  • 51% of adults 18-29 years old suffer from Anxiety and Depression Disorders—up over 600% since 2019(4).
    • 90% of Black youths struggling with behavioral and mental health issues go without help.
    • <70% of all adults in need go without help.

This is why we focused our program on healthcare access with affordable medication solutions, with an additional emphasis on access to behavioral and mental healthcare.

The environments into which people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age affect a wide range of health outcomes and quality-of-life risks. Everything from relationship breakdowns to drug and alcohol dependencies and addictions are oftentimes directly related to environmental traumas, which can manifest as PTSD, anxiety and depression.

We started the LIVING 2.0 Foundations program to be a solution.

Good health starts in our homes, neighborhoods, and communities. We know that taking care of ourselves by eating well and staying active, not smoking, and seeing a doctor when we are sick all influence our health. We also acknowledge that the impact of worldwide issues, medical and food insecurities are creating significant behavioral and mental health issues, making access to these services equally, if not more important.

We built a program that delivers high-touch access to medical and mental health professionals, and high-tech access—using the latest technology to provide direct and confidential access to self-care digital benefits programs for issues the majority of people would rather keep private. This combination allows us to provide services at a fraction of the cost of traditional providers while still maintaining high user satisfaction levels.

How we determine distribution

We match all grants and donations with our list of qualifying people and families, and then we give them access to a 12-month membership in our program, giving them access to all of the above programs. When we receive funds and grants from organizations and corporate citizenship programs we have a multi-pronged approach to fulfillment:

  •  Based on the size of the donation (usually in excess of 500 annual memberships—minimum 250 in any one community), each company can submit a list of 5 to 8 of the top cities/communities/markets where they wish to direct their funds.
    •     We review any non-profits and programs the company already partners with in those communities, and add them to our master Recipient List, and then
    •     We contact our network of national non-profit organizations; along with reaching out to local non-profits in the identified markets to build a list of qualified recipient families
  •     Promotional Events: We can coordinate and produce a launch event for each market to be run as follows:
    •     Held at a local non-profit facility
    •     Invite 15 to 20 of the recipient families to attend
    •     Invite the appropriate politician, community leader, and in some cases, a professional NBA/NFL/MLB/MLS athlete (from our network of contacts) and have them interact with the recipient families, pose for pictures, represent their foundation, etc.
    •     An executive from  LIVING 2.0 FOUNDATIONS emcees the event
    •     An executive from the donor company normally delivers a message
    •     Get video coverage of the event and edit it for use in the appropriate media and social media channels, and distribute it to the donor company, LIVING 2.0, the athlete’s foundation, etc.
    •     The cost per event is approximately $1,500 to $3,500 based on the location and are customarily deducted from the grant amount.
